a napkin and I
考え事をしながら 無意識にポケットの中を探って 手に触ったものをもてあそんでいた。
I was thinking about something and fingering an object which I cought in my pocket.
考え事にある程度の結論が出て ふと気づくと 事務机の上にくしゃくしゃになった ナプキンが。
When it came to a conclusion of my thinking, I awared that there was a crumpled napkin on the office desk.
そしてまたあるとき
Then the other day,
応接室にて来客に粗茶をお出しし 「失礼いたします」 と退室のお辞儀をした。
In the guest room, I served a cup of tea for the guest and then bowed him saying : "Excuse me for getting out".
目に入ったのは、胸ポケットから 半分飛び出したおりものシート。
At the time, I cought the sight of a napkin sheet getting half out of my pocket.
違うんです、ナプキンじゃないんです と、心の中でどうにもならない言い訳。
"That's not right, Sir. It isn't a napkin." I said in my mind that the lame excuse.
そういや中学生のとき
Come to think of that when I was a junior high school student.
笑いすぎて出た涙をぬぐおうと ポケットからハンカチを引き抜いたときも
When I would pick up a handkerchief from my pocket to dash away my tears of over-laughing,
いやおうなしに飛び出してきたのは 言うまでもなく、生理用品。
needless to say, it turned out that a napkin popped out eventually.
もう10年以上も前から 月経を人目にさらす道を歩いてきた。
Even since over 10 years, I've walked through the way to expose my napkin in public.
